Most of you RP like smeg so here's the basics to a good time on the server.

You NEVER, and I say NEVER people let the truth get in the way of a good story, DARKRP thrives on creativity and imagination which we never lack at ByB. Mug the mayor, raid your neighbor, stick up the gun store, this is what we're here for people not radio spamming techno and driving buggy cars in circles honking like a lunatic. We have a small population right now, your actions make or break the server.


Now.....I want this community to be as successful as humanly possible, period. I miss the old days of GMOD personally and we have yet again another chance to make those old days the present. We have a serious problem amongst us that has never been addressed or fixed in all of our years of existence. This problem lies within the staff, it's the elephant in the room that nobody wants to acknowledge. We have certain ranks within the community that talk to people with no respect even sub-human-like you could say; antagonize situations with others point blank period it's wrong. You are supposed to be examples of a good player, a role model but by no means god. Take a step back look at yourselves and realize this is a game. We're all in it for the common element of fun, not drama or power trips. I've been within this community in and out for many, many moons and have seen what goes on. I've talked to ALOT of the player base over the years and the common theme is they love ByB servers but they can't stand certain staff. Let's not let our childhood game get stomped out by corruption. Let's reform this with our voices as a community and change this for the better. We're gonna make ByB great again guys, few bad apples here and there but we got a good group we can obtain this. Say what you see, be real or nothing will get accomplished. /RantOver

MOTD Edits

Kidnapper

  • Allowed to work with Hobos for the odd abduction or two.
  • Extend Knockout Timer +5 Seconds.

Bounty Hunter

  • Instead of players calling 911 or advertising when they get kidnapped have this class have a notification about abductions, let the kidnap victim have access to a command that allows them to type one message to the Bounty Hunter to try and save their life!
  • Take the class off of the Law Enforcement list and make it Civilian.

Black Market Dealer

  • Add Lockpick and Keypad Cracker Shipments to the sell list
  • Add Gas Masks to the sell list
  • Be able to sell attachments in singles and x10
  • Start with 100% armor, because you just spawn it for yourself anyway
  • Let BMD base with a gang if they already have 4 existing members making 5 including yourself as long as the server population is 40 or higher.

Meth Cook

  • Able to work with other Meth Cooks
  • Increase money per hour cooking meth, it's really a lot of moving around and the gravity gun makes  so much noise going on and off constantly that it literally leads people right too you.

Master Thief

  • Spawn with armor.
  • Limit one per gang.

Hitman

  • Switch sniper to a higher damage sniper that make a lot of noise or a semi-auto with a silencer
  • Spawn with silenced pistol.

Mercenary

  • Be able to hire full time
  • Can help Bounty Hunter find kidnap victims

SWAT

Rule #4 MOTD: Your job is to break into those hard to crack crime dens and take the fight to the criminals. Its not to walk around the street as a glorified beat cop arresting the odd criminal. You should spend a majority of your time in or directly next to PD. If you're not there you should be on your way to or actively raiding. The SWAT aren't just Police Officers with more armor.


What are we doing? Are we enforcing this or not? This rule needs to be cracked down on or removed.


New Class Ideas

Scrapper

Make a Scrapper or Salvager class that steals cars and can take parts off them for money? It's a great way to clean up all the broken or abandoned cars left all over the map and add an extra "freelance" money job.

Secret Agent

What happens more often than not is there is a full gang of master thieves, the reason? There is no other jobs to go! Mercenaries can't guard full time nor base with you, Secret Agent is gone and nobody wants to be a regular thief or gangster. We need this class back so desperately bad or some variation to fill in it's role. We have a balancing issue with gangs and cops big time! Please think hard on this!

Bring back Becki's Barrel, yes we have Becki's Box now but the problem is it's hard to get a good angle to throw it into your printer window like you could do with the circular barrel, here's some examples.







Just a simple model change to the barrel would be amazing.

Also in console is there a way you can add a Find feature like you have on google chrome by doing Ctrl+F, would make it easier for finding certain things like people dropping from the server. Thanks

Kidnapper :

Current Rule -
#1 You are also a loner, and a weirdo. You do not work well with others or operate in a gang.
#4 You may not base with anyone else: even other kidnappers, hired bodyguards or mercs. You may not be part of a gang.


I think you should be able to have some partnership or help in some way, perhaps hobos? Hard playing solo on such a hands on type of class especially with undercovers now, you need someone to be able to watch your back and is equally as weird of a class type. Maybe a 2nd Kidnapper role? Also the baton speed for swinging is rather slow, could we change that or make it so you can knock them out from the front and sides too? A blow to the head is a blow to the head after all. I'd also be cool with extending the knockout timer an extra 5 seconds I can't tell you how many time I've seen and me personally just missed getting them to the rape dungeon just by a millisecond, It says you have to attempt to not be seen so you tend to have to base just a tad bit further away so the extra 5 seconds would make a huge difference.

Black Market Dealer :

#2 A BMD store may have only one keypad door to be used on a small safe. You cannot use base/raid defences. (shooting windows, raid entrances, etc.)


Ok so I see where you guys are coming from on this 110% there was a obvious problem with self supplying within their own bases to guard printers with or without their gang. The problem is now you can't even spawn printers or a shipment because you can only have a safe the cops /warrant you and are batter-ramming your door down in literally a second flat after that. Next thing you know you're either tased and arrested or gunned down and your belongings are gone. I'm just suggesting being able to have 1 fading door entrance along with a safe rather than the normal 2, just to give some kind of preparation, you know people that sell illegal goods in real life and make a lot of money off of it usually have more than just a doorknob lock on their front doors to keep people out. Just some food for thought.

Meth Cook :

Current Rule -
#2 You can employ a bodyguard, or hide a merc firm for protection, but you may not work with other cooks or within a gang building.

I think you should be able to work with other meth cooks as people do it anyway and what's the harm? And I also think the money per hour you make on meth should be buffed just a tiny bit, it's an awful lot of moving around for little reward.

Master Thief :

Needs Armor on spawn.

Hitman :


Sniper doesn't one shot in the head a Civ with just 100% Health as far as I remember. Maybe a different Sniper? Perhaps a semi-auto sniper with a silencer along with a silenced pistol? You are a lone-wolf after all let the class pack a little more fire power and some stealth as wealth if wanted with the attached suppressor. Also you know how when you're wanted from the cops you have a thing above your head? Can you do that with hits so you can identify targets through your sniper at longer distances?

 
Mercenary :

Should Spawn with Armor.

Off topic of specific jobs, I think the arrest baton should have a delay between hits of a second or two because being able to spam it is just a little OP, you can't really fight back without a weapon with your fists. Bring back the MP7 for SWAT!!!! It was DANK!

Talked to iProxy he said they should and also SWAT have the same speed boost as cops which I don't think is right. Thank you!!

Police speed plus taser is overkill, i think the run speed should be reduced to regular especially when there are a 6-7 cops its just too much and too mingy

Because its dumb and realistically if u get kidnapped and your smeg taken its gonna take you a little bit you try to manage to get ahold of a phone somehow. +support kthx

Well years ago when ByB was lit and we had like 7 or 8 servers going at once there was a thread getting a lot of buzz about map suggestions. So I knew this cool ass map called Evil Melon so I made a video of it and posted it to youtube so everyone could check it out but anyway what I'm getting at is Rebirth is getting more popularity now which is good especially with summer coming up but maybe we could do something with this map, RP4 maybe? I don't think we should change rebirth to this although the rebirth map is a little stale I do think it should be the old RP5 map or some better variation but heres Evil Melon!




Edit: I lied I smeg with this map too much, lets make it Rebirth. Skip to around 5:50 if you wanna see Downtown I forgot it had of touch of that which is a cool familiar touch!

Suggestions and Questions / Hitman Rework Suggestion

Hello, I've been in ByB for about 14 months now and a lot of things have changed, for he last couple of weeks I've notice the Hitman job hasn't been touched other then being able to choose multiple job skins. The whole process where you need them to write a note then drop money is a bit old fashion and causes quiet a bit of frustration. For starters you get the Hit Note, kill the guy then you can't destroy it leaving behind foolish evidence rather then burning it or tearing it up. But that being said I'd like to see a new system, a idea I had was a Laptop Entity that the Hitman could spawn where a player could interact with place a hit with a valid reason, automatically pay the set amount of money and the Hitman can do his thing. Then have a little screen for the Hitman to see a picture of the person, their name and a little default Bio of whatever job they are and maybe a spot where the person making the hit can add something like where he was last seen. Also to stop everyone claiming RDM when they die from a hit, would it be possible to have a custom death screen/message when you die to the Hitman with a hit? That's just a rough idea of how it could work but I'll leave that up to Pantho to rework/figure out.

Now to move on to another thing that bugs me. The Hitman has a scout to snipe with, you snipe at long range but the problem with that is you cannot identify people from far ranges due to the limited number of skins per job. Now there are two ways I think it could make this better, one having way more jobs skins per job and only one person may have this job skin at a time. Two have binoculars of a sort where when looking through them you can see people names above their head at long ranges.

Hope this gets implemented, feel free to add on/brain storm more.

Arma 2 Wasteland Event will be held Sunday the 7th of July at 2:00PM EST Event officially over, Hope everyone had fun.

Safe entrances MUST use keypads only. No automated door systems. Base entrances can use automated doors as long as keypads are provided for raiders.

You may have 1 extra keypad for a safe which must be set to toggle. This applies to the whole base, not each individual player basing there. Bankers, however, may have up to 5 safes
Editorial suggestion: I would like E2 doors able to be put on safes as a CP. It's a extremely high traffic area at times and giving the code out to the whole Police Force is abused as they switch jobs and have the keypad code. That being said I'd like to make the rule something along the lines of you can have an E2 door on your safe as long as you have another safe door on toogle.

Reason for suggestion: Police abuse knowledge of Keypad codes after they switch jobs.

Pros: Makes safes actually useable in PD without Metagamers.

Cons: Virtually none if the rule is made right.

Server specific: Across all servers.

Other info: I laid an egg today, third time this week. Also this rule is only for CP bases within PD, not regular bases.
