How about a refill rather than extra ammo? That avoids a lot of the problems people are taking about, yet means they can still restock. It also means the price can be much more reasonable (whilst we do have a broken economy, there are still new supporters - seems unfair to charge them an arm and a leg)

How about finding a way to fix the economy?

lol, good luck

Whilst money printers exist, there will always be a broken economy. Heck, wages are even a contributor. Resetting wallets (something we're not going to do anytime soon) only restarts the whole process. I don't pretend to have any real grasp of economics, it's a very difficult subject and even the world experts muck it up for entire countries, but at the very least we would need more ways to spend money (sinkholes) then there are ways to earn it.

I really, really like this idea.

The limit on crossbow ammo is part of the point. The crossbow is good, and you shouldn't be able to have like 10 or 20 bolts at once. But there should be a way to refill it without suicide, perhaps it auto refills in 20min after you shot your last bolt or something like that.

Let's assume that it would be logical for the crossbow bolts to materialize in the player's "inventory" after 20 minutes, for the sake of this post.

If such a mechanic were implemented, it would not be free of charge. The crossbow is arguably one of the most powerful weapons available to those that play on the server and have paid for the supporter rank, and so the acquirement of more ammunition for it would not be a simple case of "20 minutes? 'Ere ya go sonny. Have a gud'n." -- So, players would need to pay for the ammunition.

Assuming that the ammunition will be highly priced, as it should be, an entire system would need to be implemented in order for this to work properly. It would need to take that sum of money from the player's wallet, a select amount for each replenished bolt. That is assuming that a way to toggle this function on and off is not implemented, because if that's the case then the entire mechanic becomes all the more harder to construct, implement, and maintain when it goes belly-up every other day.

Any refill based system would need to be done via a vendor, or an NPC of some sort. I quite like the idea of crossbow bolts being purchasable as an ammunition from the PD dealer. A perk, available to the Secret Agents that pledge themselves to the city's police force.

How about, no matter if the Secret Agent in question is a Deputy/Assistant, the Secret Agent can still purchase these bolts/refill from the PD dealer anyways, even if it means breaking into the PD to do so. Would add a little bit of excitement, then maybe a $10,000 refill from the dealer, which just gives you another 5 bolts, if that's the default amount.

The PD dealer is an NPC (non-player character) and as such it would make very little sense indeed for him to sell his wares to those that decide upon breaking into the police station. ByB is a semi-serious roleplay server, and not a serious one, and in many cases DarkRP can be perceived as a joke in comparison to what most roleplayers would consider roleplay. There are limits as to how much ridiculousness can be gotten away with, however.

There is no need to argue about this, especially as I've already covered how it'd likely be implemented if we ever get around to it.

I agree, an NPC with a timer and high cost would help maintain a balance and prevent "campers" from being able to obtain ammo with little to no effort.
